Job Summary: Provides quality pharmaceutical care, and fills/dispenses medications in accordance with the latest pharmacy standard practices. Reviews prescriptions and medication orders for appropriateness and compatibility with current therapy, disease states, drug allergies, adverse drug effects, duplication of therapy and compliance to ensure patients’ medication therapy is safe, effective, timely, and free from drug-related problems. Communicates with all healthcare professionals and patients concerning medical care to ensure safety and effectiveness. Provides direction to technical staff and participates in performance enhancement initiatives. Education – Required: Doctorate Pharmacy or Bachelor’s Degree Pharmacy Experience – Preferred: 2 years relevant pharmacist experience or 1 year PGY1 pharmacy residency Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – Required: Ability to accurately dispense and monitor medications. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Ability to make independent judgments under stressful situations at times. Knowledge of laws, regulations, and accreditation standards related to the distribution and control of scheduled and non-scheduled drugs and pharmacy security. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities – Preferred: Familiarity with common pharmacy technologies, both software and hardware. Licensure – Required: Registered Pharmacist Pennsylvania license Upon Hire Licensure – Preferred: BCPS – Board Certified Pharmacotherapy Specialist or other BPS certification (for inpatient positions) Upon Hire Additional Qualifications: Pharmacist authorization to administer injectable medications, biologicals and immunizations in Pennsylvania required for retail pharmacist positions.
