Encountering Email Phishing Scams

  • Students

School is back in session, and Wilkes IT also sees an influx of phishing scams around this time. As we work to ensure safety and security for the entire campus community, you may see more warning messages from the Wilkes IT department about email phishing scams.

Here are some helpful tips should you come across an email request that looks strange:

  • If it sounds like a strange request, it probably is.
  • Always verify with the actual person if you receive a message from them asking you to buy gift cards.
  • Do not accept gift cards from people you don’t know.
