We hope everyone had a restful summer and is feeling ready for the start of the new semester. The Office of Academic Success Advising Coordinators would like to share a few important reminders as we prepare for the upcoming term.
Advising Checklist for Faculty Advisors
- Review Your Advising Rosters
Some faculty members have been assigned incoming first-year students and may not yet have had the opportunity to connect with them. Please take a moment to review your roster and reach out as needed.- Please note: If an incoming first year student did not attend orientation or contact Wilkes University about their intent to attend, they may not have a Fall schedule.
- FYF 101 Course Enrollment
Ensure that all your first-year students are enrolled in an FYF 101 course. - Check Student Schedules for Completeness
Confirm that student schedules are complete. If a student is on a waitlist, please reach out to guide them on appropriate next steps (e.g., attending the class, speaking with the instructor, and following up with you if they are unable to secure a seat). - ZZZ Credits
ZZZ credits are temporary placeholders used to ensure billing accuracy. These will be removed at the start of the semester. Therefore, when reviewing schedules please make sure your advisees are enrolled in full-time classes – not just credits.- ZZZ MTH – the student likely did not complete ALEKS
- ZZZ CHM – the student likely did not complete ALEKS and cannot be placed in CHM
- ZZZ + 3, 6, 9, 12 – these numbers represent the number of credits they still need to be full-time.
