Constitution Day

Each year on September 17, we celebrate Constitution Day, the signing of the U.S. Constitution in 1787. This document is the foundation of our democracy, but it also directly shapes the work we do in higher education.

For financial aid, the Constitution is important because it established the framework that ensures equal access, fairness, and the rights of students across the country. The federal student aid programs we administer, grants, loans, and work-study, are rooted in constitutional principles that protect due process, promote equal opportunity, and encourage civic engagement.

As a financial aid office, we are proud to uphold these values by helping students understand their rights and responsibilities, ensuring access to higher education, and supporting their journey toward becoming informed, active citizens.

Today is a reminder that education and democracy go hand in hand. The Constitution not only guides our nation, but also helps make higher education possible for millions of students.
