Colonel’s Caring for Colonels

As you may have seen yesterday the annual Colonel’s Caring for Colonels campaign is underway! You can read more about it below and use the links to nominate students and/or donate. Thank you for supporting our students and reminding them they have a community of love and advocacy behind them.

With the holiday season approaching, it’s once again that time of year when we begin our annual on-campus effort, Colonel’s Caring for Colonels, which benefits those at the very heart of our University — our students.

In the spirit of the giving season, we have held many opportunities to contribute and impact the greater Wilkes-Barre community, such as our CEO Thanksgiving Distribution and traditional Toys for Tots drive. While serving the greater community will always be a hallmark of our Colonel values, it is also essential to look inward and support our very own.

This year especially, students are dealing with unforeseen struggles and are making significant sacrifices for their college education. Students in these circumstances can sometimes be overlooked by organizations willing to help; they simply do not know where to go to receive that help or have difficulty asking for the help they need. That’s where you come in…

We know that faculty and staff are often the main point of contact for our students. If you know of a particular student who you believe could be a beneficiary of this effort, kindly submit their name and story using this submission form. Your identity will not be made known to the student. Submissions will be carefully reviewed by a team composed of members from Student Affairs, University Staff Advisory Council (USAC) and the faculty. Every effort will be made to protect the integrity of the students. No identities will be made known to the general public. Submissions must be received by 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7.

It is not lost on us that staff and faculty are enduring similar challenges and uncertainty right now. This request is not taken lightly and is made entirely in the interest of reminding our students that they have an entire campus community behind them. We hope that you will consider making a contribution to this meaningful effort and/or anonymously nominate a student in need. Donations will be allocated appropriately based on the student/s’ needs in the form of gifts, meals or gift cards.

On behalf of the Civic Engagement and Student Affairs teams, thank you in advance for your consideration and participation in this endeavor.
Sincerely,
Catie Becker
