Coppelia is a whimsical 19th-century comic ballet about a young woman named Swanilda who saves her fiancé, Franz from a lonely inventor, Dr Coppelius, who mistakes his lifelike mechanical doll for a real person. After discovering the doll’s true nature, Swanilda poses as the doll to teach Franz a lesson.
