Category: Career Preparation
The PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at University Hospitals Specialty Pharmacy is designed for PharmD graduates interested in specialty pharmacy, ambulatory care, and direct patient care in a rapidly growing and evolving field. Residents gain hands-on experience managing high-cost, complex therapies across multiple specialty disease states, working closely with providers and patients in both clinical and outpatient settings. Residents are integrated among various disease specialties including: oncology, rheumatology, gastroenterology, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular/memory care, cystic fibrosis, dermatology, fertility, hepatology, asthma immunology, and cardiology, as well as within the main specialty pharmacy and ambulatory infusion centers. Communication, research, precepting and leadership skills will be enhanced throughout the year. This ASHP-accredited program emphasizes patient-centered care, access coordination, and preparation for advanced practice or PGY2 training.
