As you prepare to embark from Wilkes this spring, we are informing you of an important change to your current Wilkes email and G-drive account. Wilkes Information Technology Services (ITS) has begun to convert alumni @wilkes.edu email accounts to @alumni.wilkes.edu.
All Wilkes alumni have been notified of this change. Your class will be the first class to make this email transition.
Six months after you graduate in May, your current Wilkes email account will be disabled and you will be offered an alumni email account: firstname.lastname@alumni.wilkes.edu.
These new email accounts will launch on June 1, 2023.
You can decide whether you would like to opt in or not; regardless of your decision, your current Wilkes email account will be disabled and eventually deleted.
Please read below for more details and information on what to expect, how to prepare, and helpful resources to guide you in this transition.
For May 2023 Grads Opting in to New Alumni Email:
- On June 1, 2023, new accounts are created.
- All opt ins will have until December 1, 2023 to forward existing email and documents to their new address and set up a forward from the old @wilkes.edu accounts to the new @alumni.wilkes.edu.
- After this six-month period, IT will disable access to the @wilkes.edu accounts.
- IT will leave the forwarding in place until December 1, 2024 once they completely disable the @wilkes.edu accounts.
For May 2023 Grads NOT Opting in to the New Alumni Email:
- Graduates will be provided with a six-month period from graduation to forward/download/export their @wilkes.edu emails, documents, files, etc.
- After the six-month period, their @wilkes.edu accounts will be disabled.
- After one year, these email accounts will be permanently deleted.
Additionally, alumni who are going back to grad school can keep their emails the same IF they can show proof of application to programs at Wilkes prior to the conversion (June 1, 2023).
Your first opportunity to opt-in to the new alumni email will be at Senior Salute on April 18 and 19.
The need for this change is to lessen the strain and eliminate issues to our servers due to the overload of Wilkes email accounts and space in the Google drive. Furthermore, these new emails will distinguish alumni and provide more visible alumni information, i.e., events, resources, updates, and more.
