Vertical Files Now Available in the Library’s Archives

The Wilkes University Archives is excited to announce that the Farley Library’s Vertical Files collection is now available for research.

Vertical files are a collection of subject files that Farley librarians created and continually added to over the decades. Prior to the internet, reference librarians would use vertical or subject files to provide access to local, state and national information. This collection provides a glimpse of the various subjects and topics that the Wilkes community researched from the 1970s to 2017.

During the summer, Thomas Morgan, a junior history major processed the collection and wrote a blog post highlighting some of the more interesting pieces within the collection.

Feel free to check out the finding aid and Morgan’s blog post.
