Good afternoon my name is Cam Ritter and I will be heading an extremely beneficial form of community service known as the Backpack Project. Dr. Roke Thomas and I are working together to fill 200 men’s and 50 women’s backpacks for the homeless within the local Wilkes-Barre area. In each of these bags we will need to include: 1 comb, 1 toothpaste, 1 tooth brush, 1 shaving cream, 1 shampoo, 1 conditioner, 1 winter cap, 1 deodorant, 1 pair of winter gloves, 1 set of razors, 1 bar of soap, and 1 pair of athletic socks. We have already gathered enough combs, tooth paste, and tooth brushes as well as 50 winter caps. I know this list may be discouraging due to the quantities, but all we are asking for is a little help from all of you to achieve our end goal! Almost all of these items can be found on sites such as the Dollar General for less than a dollar but monetary contributions will also be accepted! Our target goal for filling all of the backpacks is the week before Thanksgiving so if you are interested in helping our cause or have any questions please feel free to reach out to Dr. Roke Thomas or myself. This is a great opportunity to give back to your community as well as to make a positive impact on many people’s lives!
