WB Department of Health to Offer Moderna Booster Shots

Moderna booster shots will be available on campus courtesy of the Wilkes-Barre Department of Health. Please read the information below for important details on the availability and scheduling of these appointments.

Booster shots were recently authorized by the Food and Drug Administration and are recommended for the following individuals, as long as six months have passed since the final dose of your initial vaccine:

  • All adults 65 and older;
  • Adults 18 and older who are at increased risk due to these underlying medical conditions;
  • Adults 18 and older who are at increased risk due to occupational and institutional settings. We have confirmed that this includes those who attend or work in institutions of higher education.

Thanks to the Wilkes-Barre Health Department, there are several opportunities for qualified individuals to receive their booster shot on campus. Clinics will be held in the McHale Athletic Center in the Simms Center on Main from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the following days:

  • Thursday, Oct. 28
  • Monday, Nov. 1
  • Wednesday, Nov. 3
  • Monday, Nov. 8
  • Friday, Nov. 12

Appointments are required. Sign up online.

Please bring your vaccination card and photo ID.

Moderna will be administered during these clinics. As a reminder, individuals may receive any approved COVID-19 vaccine brand as their booster dose. It does not need to be the same manufacturer administered as part of your primary series.

At this time, 30 appointment slots have been reserved for Wilkes students, faculty and staff on each day. Family members or the general public are welcome to call the Wilkes-Barre Health Department for appointment availability: 570-208-4653

As we approach the spring semester, we will ask those who have received booster shots to add that information to their vaccination record. Stay tuned in the weeks ahead for an email outlining that process.
