COVID Booster Shots Available on Nov. 18

The Wilkes-Barre Health Department will offer COVID-19 booster shots in the McHale Athletic Center from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 18.

Appointments are available throughout the day for those that qualify. You are considered qualified if at least six months has passed since the final dose of your initial vaccine, meaning it was received on May 18 or earlier, and you meet the following criteria:

  •  All adults 65 and older;
  •  Adults 18 and older who are at increased risk due to these underlying medical conditions;
  • Adults 18 and older who are at increased risk due to occupational and institutional settings. We have confirmed that this includes those who attend or work in institutions of higher education.

Appointments are required. Sign up online.

Please bring your vaccination card and photo ID. You must also bring a completed copy of the appropriate Moderna or Johnson & Johnson form.

Moderna and Johnson & Johnson will be administered during this clinic. As a reminder, individuals may receive any approved COVID-19 vaccine as their booster dose. It does not need to be the same vaccine manufacturer administered as part of your primary series.

At this time, all appointments on Nov. 18 have been reserved for Wilkes students, faculty and staff. Family members or the general public are welcome to call the Wilkes-Barre Health Department for appointment availability on future dates: 570-208-4653

We will soon ask individuals to add booster shot information to their online vaccination record. Stay tuned in the weeks ahead for an email outlining that process.
