Please Check Out Logistical Details for Today’s Presidential Visit

Wilkes University is honored to welcome the 46th President of the United States to campus on Thursday, July 21.

President Joe Biden will provide remarks on the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act and gun violence. He is set to appear on Thursday afternoon in the Arnaud C. Marts Center at approximately 2 p.m., with attendee check-in from approximately 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the McHale Athletic Center.

We recommend attendees park in the S. Main St. parking garage for easy access to check-in at the McHale Athletic Center.

Please note the following interruptions to campus operations as we accommodate the White House and its personnel:

  • The Arnaud C. Marts Center will be off limits as of 8 a.m. on Thursday, July 21.
  • S. Franklin St. will likely be closed from Ross to South St. Residents and Wilkes employees should carry proper identification if they need vehicular access to that block.
  • Streets on and around campus and in the greater community will be closed while the President is in transit, likely between 1 and 2 p.m. and again between 4 to 5 p.m. (all approximations).
  • Though construction will be halted, many parking lot entrances near Marts will continue to remain closed or have limited access.

We thank you for your patience and for your support of this historic event.
