Greetings from the PPA Headquarters!
The Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association (PPA) is entering the 2nd year of the Fellowship in Association Management. Should you have P4/Year 6 students still looking for a unique and engaging post-graduate opportunity, please encourage them to consider a Fellowship with the PPA!
The PPA Executive Fellowship in Association Management provides a non-traditional post-graduate training experience for those interested in cultivating organizational and leadership skills critical to the success of nonprofit organizations. The mission of the Fellowship is to foster the development and training of pharmacy professionals to assume high-level leadership positions in pharmacy practice and/or a professional association while supporting and enhancing PPA’s membership, education, and advocacy initiatives.
This is an incredible opportunity to work alongside some of the most progressive pharmacists in the state and the country. Please spread the word, especially with any P4s that may not end up being matched for a residency. Below is a list of just some of the experiences we have planned for our upcoming Fellow!
PPA Executive Fellows will have the opportunity to:
- Work with the PPA CEO, Government Relations team and pharmacy coalitions on key legislative initiatives including pharmacist provider status and expanded scope of practice.
- Attend state Board of Pharmacy meetings, monitoring and reporting on regulation development.
- Travel and present a poster at the APhA Annual Meeting.
- Participate in the National Alliance of State Pharmacy Association leadership meetings held at APhA and NCPA.
- Attend PPA Board of Director meetings and work directly with PPA board members to advance the PPA strategic imperatives of identity, membership, and advocacy.
- Participate in select PPA committees to assist with organizational objectives.
- Actively contribute to PPA’s communications and social media outlets.
- Work with the PPA Educational Foundation Board members and Ambassadors on fundraising events and participate in the Educational Foundation LEAD program.
- Gain skills in budgeting and financial management by assisting with annual budget development and office operations.
- Assist in the organization, marketing and planning of PPA programs and events.
- Learn how to conduct research through a community-pharmacy based research program.
- Attain and refine project management skills.
- Participate in grant work and projects funded by the PA Department of Health including Diabetes Self -Management Education, Diabetes Prevention, Social Determinants of Health driven pharmacy programs, and heart disease and stroke prevention.
In addition, the Fellow will have the opportunity to work with the President and COO of the PA Pharmacists Care Network, one of the largest affiliates of the CPESN, USA, in their advancement of community pharmacy practice transformation and increasing pharmacy payor program opportunities .
