Wilkes and Scranton University Dining Services have partnered together with the Veteran’s Affairs Council on campus to host a donation drive from April 17- April 27th. The items that are collect during this drive are going to be provided to Veteran’s Village, a local Veteran’s community in Kingston, PA and Heroes Hearthstone in Dallas, PA on April 28th. Heroes Hearthstone trains Veterans and First Responders in effective warrior-based wellness and self-regulation practices. By utilizing a system of peer to peer support, we are able to guide our Nation’s Heroes from a life of post-traumatic stress to a path of post-traumatic growth. Heroes Hearthstone works directly with Veteran’s Village to help Veteran’s that are in of food and other life supplies. We are collecting donations in Henry’s Dining Hall, POD market, and Starbucks. The community donations that are needed are non-perishable foods, toilet paper, and paper towels. Heroes Hearthstone is also need of pens, pencils, and notebooks to utilize in their trainings. Wilkes Dining Services and Wilkes Veterans Affairs are reaching out to the Wilkes community to collect donations for this very important cause.
