Pennamite-Yankee wars collection is now processed and digitized!

Attention all History buffs and enthusiasts of the Wyoming Valley! Wilkes University Archives is excited to announce that the Susquehanna Claim subseries, 1770-1801, of the Gilbert Stuart McClintock collection is now processed and digitized! We have a special blog post written by Jessica Van Orden, a Senior English literature major, who does a deep dive chronology and analysis on the history behind this region’s land conflict between Pennsylvania and Connecticut which spanned over 30 years. The Pennamite-Yankee wars have been largely forgotten and omitted from K-12 history textbooks and we hope that by opening access to many original manuscripts and prints that document this tumultuous time period, it may shed some light on this region’s early history for researchers and scholars.
