Week Four – July 12th – What’s on Tap
It’s not too late to join in on the Teaching with Technology Wednesdays activities!
Week four begins at 9am with “Tools for Deeper Learning, Collaboration, & Community” by Kristine Pruett. This session will look at social annotation and building community in your courses to deepen learning, build connections, and develop student’s collaboration skills. Tools to facilitate social annotation will also be introduced. Next at 10am is “Accessibility Basics for Online Course Materials” by Rachael Roth. This session will introduce everyday strategies for promoting proactive accessible design in your online courses, while also sharing best practices, tips, and tricks for incorporating the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) approach. Then at 11am Is “Inclusive Online Practices” by Helen Davis. This workshop will present an overview and discussion about inclusive online pedagogical practices. Finally, at noon we have “Building an Effective Syllabus” by Jason Wagner. The syllabus is the most important document in your course. How do you ensure students read it? In this session, Jason will discuss strategies to make sure your students read your syllabus, including the concept of a liquid syllabus.
