Simms Center Closure – 10/12-10/15

From Thursday, October 12, to Sunday, October 15, facilities will replace the transfer switch in the Simms Center on Main, requiring power to be turned off in the entire building.

To ensure everyone’s safety during this time, please be advised of the following:

  • Employees who work in the Simms Center will need to work remotely (either from home or another campus location) during the outage.

  • The University’s data center will be powered by a separate generator, so internet, phone, VPN and other computer services will be supported for the rest of campus.

  • All services in Simms, including Starbucks and the McHale Athletics Center, will be closed during the outage.  Additionally, a section of sidewalk next to the building along West South Street will be closed.

  • A brief interruption in internet service may be experienced on October 12 and October 16 when power is switched from the generator to permanent power.

If you have any questions, please contact Charles.Cary@Wilkes.edu (regarding building and facilities) or Gerald.korea@Wilkes.edu (internet or IT).

We appreciate your cooperation as we complete this important work.
