Fifth Annual Douglass Day Transcribe-a-thon: Thursday, February 15 from 11 am to 1 pm in Farley Library
Celebrate Black History by doing history! Join us in the library to transcribe documents related to the life of Frederick Douglass. Open to everyone, no previous transcribing experience is necessary! Drop by any time during the event to participate; you can use the library computers or bring your laptop. Pizza will be provided.

Act Out Theatre Group will present Lift Every Voice: Friday, February 16 and 5:30 pm in the JPAC
Based on real life events, this play addresses the impact of racism in an urban high school. Pizza will be provided.

“Frederick Douglass and Northeast Pennsylvania” lecture: Wednesday, February 28 at 5 pm in Breiseth 106
Local historian E. J. Murphy will discuss the direct and indirect connections of the abolitionist’s work to residents of northeast Pennsylvania in the mid-nineteenth century. From his work with the Underground Railroad to relationships with local politicians to recruiting for the U.S. Colored Troops during the Civil War, Douglass’s activism impacted lives throughout the area.
