Spring break is one week away and the spring break group preparing to travel to the Dominican Republic is looking for items to take with them to support the community of La Piedra. This community is made up of approximately 5,000 people, many of them living in extreme poverty. Around 60% earn less than $3 USD per day; and 30% earn less than $2 USD per day. They survive by raising animals, growing vegetables, and other odd jobs. Only 10% of the residents have access to electricity. Donations are needed by March 1.
Requested items: sanitary pads, panty liners, toothbrushes, travel size toothpaste, non-latex gloves, condoms, alcohol wipes, prenatal vitamins w/ folic acid.
