PPA Executive Fellow

You are invited to apply to the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association Fellowship in Association Management. We offer a competitive salary, full benefits, and a myriad of project opportunities that immerse the fellow in contemporary practice issues and offer an opportunity for autonomous project development and implementation in areas of mutual interest. In partnership with one of our member pharmacies, the fellow has the opportunity to spend one day a week at a progressive community pharmacy practice where they are responsible to work with the pharmacy team to expand existing clinical services in their retail and long-term care operations and potentially with a federally qualified health center in the coming year.

2025-2026 will mark the fourth year of the fellowship program and the successful transition of the first two fellows to pharmacist opportunities of their choosing. In fact, last year’s fellow assumed a new full-time position with the PPA where they are heavily involved in supporting the launch of new payor programs in community pharmacies, working with pharmacies to implement appropriate workflows to be successful participants in the Pennsylvania CPESN USA (PPCN) network, and successfully secured a grant to support the training of pharmacy technicians as community health workers that are directly supporting social determinants of health payer programs in their respective pharmacy locations.

Our current fellow is working with one of our community clinical pharmacists to manage a pharmaceutical company funded vaccine initiative that focuses on non-influenza vaccine education, access, and uptake for adults in the community pharmacy setting. The 2024-2025 fellow was also successful in securing another significantly large grant intended to directly support the advocacy needs of community-based pharmacies.

As with most associations, there is a large advocacy component of our work in which the fellow will be directly involved, including coordinating the development and launch of the annual Pennsylvania pharmacy legislative day. This year the fellow created a member-only summary of a key piece of legislation that passed last session. They also developed a Medicaid enrollment guide for pharmacists looking to take advantage of the recent addition of pharmacists as mid-level providers in PA Medicaid, and deployed a cohort of pharmacy students to work directly with pharmacists seeking entry to the Medicaid benefit.

I hope this email has provided you with some insight to the PPPA Fellowship in Association Management. We appreciate your consideration and welcome your application.
