NEW Wellness Presentation – Sustained Stress Management: Building Resilience and Mental Wellness

The Wilkes Wellness Committee is excited to provide you with a new workshop opportunity, Sustained Stress Management: Building Resilience and Mental Wellness.

Do you ever wonder how you survive stressful events, dealing with difficult people, without feeling terrible and guilty after the fact? Does it become easier to get through it over time? You may have developed Resilience, which helps us, move through the issues in our lives in a safe and effective way. Discover how resilience can be developed, improved and sustained with techniques and activities designed to build this important individual resource. Be aware of feelings and emotions related to the use of Mindfulness as a tool to help with sustaining your personal Resilience.

Join two of our faculty members from the Passan School of Nursing, Dr. Eugene Lucas and Dr. Todd Hastings, on Monday, April 7 at 12 Noon for this interactive presentation in Breiseth 107. Since this will be held over the noon hour, feel free to bring your lunch to enjoy during the discussion.

Overview: This interactive session will focus on practical strategies for fostering personal resilience, amongst the staff and faculty on and off (working remotely) campus. Attendees will learn how to develop habits that promote emotional and physical wellness, adaptability, and sustained vigor in both their professional and personal lives. See how Resilience can be developed, and sustained with strategies designed to build this important individual resource from a holistic context, in considering a “toolkit” approach.

Objectives: By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  1. Define personal resilience and its importance in supporting positive quality of life.
  2. Identify key external and internal stressors which challenge individuals and impact resilience.
  3. Explore evidence-based strategies grounded in mindfulness and emotional intelligence to strengthen mental and emotional resilience.
  4. Develop an individualized plan to incorporate resilience-building practices into daily routines.
