Wilkes University’s College of Business & Engineering announces the master’s thesis defense of Molly Yuschock, a candidate for the Master of Science in Bioengineering. Her thesis, titled “Utilizing Advancements in CRISPR Technology to Study Genes Involved in Development in Drosophila melanogaster“, evaluates current tools available for gene editing/manipulation in Drosophila. Many genes within the Drosophila genome are not well-characterized. It is vital to study these genes, especially those thought to be involved in egg formation. A more comprehensive understanding of these genes may elucidate their functions in Drosophila, along with their role in higher species.
