Remove Personal Mobility Devices from Campus – 10/9

As part of our commitment to ensuring a safe campus environment, we would like to inform all members of our University community about the updated regulations regarding the use of bicycles and personal mobility devices on campus.

All students with personalized mobility devices, as outlined in the attached policy, must remove them from campus property and take them home permanently at the beginning of Fall Recess on Thursday, Oct. 9, 2025, when the policy goes into full effect. (People with disabilities who have a documented medical need to use the device inside buildings will be allowed to use them inside Wilkes University and on campus.)

Due to hazards and safety concerns associated with the use, storage and charging of standing, motorized scooters, e-scooters, bicycles with electric assist, Segways, hoverboards and similarly-powered devices, Wilkes University has imposed restrictions on their use, storage and operation on campus.

Enforcement & Penalties:
Campus security will actively enforce these rules to ensure safety for all students, faculty and staff. Students or employees violating these regulations are subject to disciplinary action by the University, including citations, confiscation of property or impoundment of devices.

For any questions or concerns regarding the policy, please contact Campus Police at 570-408-4377.

For more details, please see the Wilkes University Police Regulations for Bicycles and Personal Mobility Devices Policy GO 6-01 attached.
