This year’s holiday collectible pays tribute to our iconic John Wilkes Statue on the greenway!
Erected in 1995, the eight-foot tall bronze statue of Wilkes’ namesake stands at the south end of the George Fenner Quadrangle on the university campus. Created by the renowned British sculptor James Butler, it is a reproduction of Butler’s original statue of the rabblerousing politician, journalist, and scoundrel, which has stood in London’s Fetter Lane since 1988. At that time, it was recognized as London’s best new public sculpture.
Today, John Wilkes now looks out over our beloved campus and serves as a constant source of affinity for generations of Colonels– the physical embodiment of Wilkes’ core mission: to empower students with transformative educational experiences and civic values.
Make a purchase of $20 to receive a stainless-steel collectible of John Wilkes. All proceeds will support the Wilkes Fund, which provides resources to the areas of greatest student need. You may also make a year-end, tax-deductible gift by Dec. 31!
