As the end of the semester and the holidays approach, we want to remind you of the university’s vacation carryover policy. Full-time, twelve-month employees are eligible to carry over up to two weeks of unused vacation time into the new year, beginning January 1:
- 35-hour/week employees may carry over up to 70 hours
- 40-hour/week employees, may carry over up to 80 hours
Any vacation time in excess of the carryover limit will not carry over and will be lost if not used by December 31, 2025. We encourage you to plan ahead to schedule any time off before the winter break and the years’ end.
Full-time, twelve month employees will receive one more vacation accrual before the end of the year, during the final pay in December (12/17/25), and any hours in excess of the carryover limit may be used before 12/31/25. Leave balances can be checked any time on the portal under Wilkes @ Work → Self Service Banner.
*Note that all sick time rolls over from year to year and is never lost. Accrued and unused personal time will remain available to use until May 31, 2025.
