ODI: NEPDEC workshop – Leading Through Tension: Tools for Supporting Professionals in a Changing Landscape

NEPDEC is hosting a workshop titled Leading Through Tension: Tools for Supporting Professionals in a Changing Landscape. This interactive session will be facilitated by Dr. Antonio Henley on May 28, 2026, from 2:00–3:00 PM via Zoom.

Purpose:

The purpose of this workshop is to equip participants with practical tools that support effective stress management and navigation of social tensions related to the backlash against diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.

Objectives:

  •         Increase understanding of the stressors faced by first-generation college students.
  •         Facilitate insight into the lived experiences of diverse educators and professionals.
  •         Provide actionable strategies to support first-generation individuals.
  •         Equip participants with tools to manage personal stress and emotional labor.
  •         Develop skills to de-escalate difficult conversations and social tensions related to DEI.
  •         Strengthen participants’ confidence communicating the value and impact of inclusive practices.

The interactive workshop will use trauma-informed, strengths-based, and culturally responsive approaches, emphasizing psychological safety, practical application and real-world relevance. 

 

Dr. Antonio Henley Biography:

With over thirty years of experience in organizational strategy, team development, and culture transformation, Dr. Antonio Henley is a seasoned leadership consultant.
