Winchester Medical Center PGY1 Residency Opportunity

Category: Career Preparation

Program overview:
Pharmacists completing this residency program are well-balanced pharmacists who are capable of providing evidence-based pharmacotherapy. Our graduates thrive in both clinical and operational roles in community hospital acute care settings or in PGY2 residency programs. Residents will gain experience through exposure to multiple patient populations and challenging learning experiences. Learning experiences include orientation, internal medicine, critical care (medical, neuro, and/or cardiac), antimicrobial stewardship, pharmacy management, psychiatry, pediatrics/NICU, and anticoagulation. Additional professional development is achieved through the completion of longitudinal activities including a medication use evaluation, a practice-related advancement research or quality improvement project, creation of a continuing education project, a formulary review, and community service. Residents will also participate in our P&T committee, formulary committee, medication safety committee, and antibiotic stewardship committee. They will also serve as a co-preceptor to pharmacy students, as well as provide education to pharmacists, nurses, physicians, and patients
