The Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy invites you to participate in the annual Pharmacy and Therapeutics Competition. Teams of 4 will investigate and review the addition of a new drug to a health plan’s formulary by making a video presentation and written evaluation. Winners of this local competition will submit their entry to the national AMCP competition, and if they succeed, will attend the national meeting in San Diego. Final submissions will be due by January 5th. Don’t know what a formulary is or how to review one? Don’t worry! AMCP provides all of the resources necessary to learn how to do a formulary review and succeed in this competition, including a free training program. All competitors must become a registered, national member of AMCP.From AMCP: The Pharmacy & Therapeutics competition exposes pharmacy students to the process of formulary management. Students will learn to develop and manage a formulary system through evaluating literature, conducting comparative studies, and making real life decisions based on cost-benefit analysis. Students will have the opportunity to hone a variety of skills including critical analysis, presentation and research skills. The competition is designed to challenge students to gain a real-world perspective of the formulary management process.
