Users can submit announcements, invitations and requests for students and\/or faculty and staff.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Today@Wilkes is not a channel for internal-only communication<\/strong>. It has a web presence accessible by external audiences.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>How do I submit announcements to Today@Wilkes?<\/summary>\n<p>You can submit announcements via the Today@Wilkes submission form.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Announcements emailed directly to Marketing Communication staff or today@wilkes.edu will not be accepted.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Can I make my announcement run for longer than a day?<\/summary>\n<p>Today@Wilkes is a daily communication. For your post to run more than a day, you will have to submit it prior to each day\u2019s deadline.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example<\/strong>: For a post to run Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, it must be submitted Friday, Monday and Tuesday by 4 p.m., respectively.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>How often is Today@Wilkes posted\/sent?<\/summary>\n<p>Today@Wilkes is posted on the site and emailed Monday through Friday mornings. Holidays delay posting by one day.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>How will I know if I should submit an announcement?<\/summary>\n<p>Generally, if your announcement involves a significant portion of the campus it is appropriate to send. Personal announcements (i.e. \u201cBuy my used car\u201d) or announcements not affiliated with Wilkes University are not suited for Today@Wilkes.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>What should I title my announcement?<\/summary>\n<p>Your title should be informative but brief. Recipients see an abbreviated version of titles in the daily email, so keep that in mind as you compose your announcement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples of Strong Announcement Titles<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li class=\"ticss-7ef193fc\">Mandatory Meeting for Second Year Students in JPAC 9\/2<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Submit Timesheets by 9\/13<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sordoni Parking Lot Closed 7\/13-7\/16<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>What should I include in the body of my announcement?<\/summary>\n<p>Your announcement should include the following as concisely as possible. The most effective announcements are typically <strong>about a paragraph in length or shorter<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Follow the \u201cwho, what, when, where\u201d method, in this order:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>WHO<\/strong> | The name of your department, club or organization<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>WHAT<\/strong> | The name of your event<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>WHEN<\/strong> | The day of the week, month, date and time of your event. <strong>Bold dates and times<\/strong> for better visibility.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>WHERE<\/strong> | The location of your event. <strong>Bold locations<\/strong> for better visibility.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ticss-8f0a6d12\"><strong>WHY<\/strong> | The purpose of your event<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ticss-cbcb3402\"><strong>Clearly include a call to action<\/strong> if possible (i.e. register or purchase link, social media account to follow, etc.). Be sure to include any relevant links and\/or any pricing or costs associated.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>When and how often should I submit my announcement?<\/summary>\n<p>Timing is key. Submit announcements and invitations for events at least a week in advance, with an additional reminder post the day of. It is recommended to submit at least three announcements for your event to encourage attendance\/participation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Be mindful of frequent posts. There are many great things happening on campus, so please <strong>avoid spamming announcements<\/strong> (more than 2-3 per week for non-emergency circumstances or with no intended deadline).<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Can I use images\/links in my post?<\/summary>\n<p>Yes! Images and links can make for more effective announcements. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Be sure images don\u2019t exceed 2MB. If you submit a photo that is too large, <strong>it may not appear and can prevent your announcement from being sent<\/strong>.If you re-submit with a properly sized photo or updated link, they will go out with the next round of posts.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ticss-9ea2e6d4\">Ensure any and all links are working and direct to the correct place before submitting your announcement.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Will anyone proofread my announcement?<\/summary>\n<p>Yes, but only for simple errors like spelling.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>\u201cWho\u201d is Today@Wilkes?<\/summary>\n<p>The Marketing Communications Department! You can contact Today@Wilkes with any questions by emailing <a href=\"mailto:today@wilkes.edu\">today@wilkes.edu<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Who receives my announcement?<\/summary>\n<p>You can select to send to students, faculty and staff or all of the above. <strong>If you are currently enrolled as a student or employed by Wilkes, you will receive these communications. You cannot opt out<\/strong><strong>.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n<details class=\"wp-block-details is-layout-flow wp-block-details-is-layout-flow\"><summary>Why hasn\u2019t my announcement been sent?<\/summary>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you submit an announcement after the morning announcements are sent, it will be queued for the following day. If there is an error with an announcement not showing up, please email <a href=\"mailto:today@wilkes.edu\">today@wilkes.edu<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If there is a technical issue with Today@Wilkes, there will be an email announcement and posts will be rescheduled to send the following morning.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There may be an influx of announcements that need to be delayed in the queue if there are extenuating circumstances.
