Local historian E. J. Murphy will discuss the direct and indirect connections of the abolitionist\u2019s work to residents of northeast Pennsylvania in the mid-nineteenth century. From his work with the Underground Railroad to relationships with local politicians to recruiting for the U.S. Colored Troops during the Civil War, Douglass\u2019s activism impacted lives throughout the area.<\/p>\n
