The Wyoming Valley Chamber DEI council invites you to a zoom training:<\/p>\n
All are welcome to join the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council for a Book Ban training with\u00a0Alyssa Coleman (she\/her).\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Within the last three years, book challenges in the United States have gone from an isolated, regional occurrence to a nation-wide movement effecting thousands of communities. In this discussion, we will aim to learn about the nature of these book bans: why they are happening, what harm these actions cause and how you, as a community member, can make your voices heard.<\/p>\n Alyssa Coleman (she\/her) is the Digital Services Librarian at Luzerne County Community College. She has a Bachelors of Arts (BA) in Biology and Creative Writing from Susquehanna University and a Masters of Information and Library Science (MILS) from Rutgers University. She is also the vice-chair of the Pennsylvania Library Association (PALA)\u2019s Northeast Chapter and had the honor of winning the PALA New Librarian of the Year award in 2023.
