These awards were established to promote the expansion of research in public health and clinical research in resource-limited settings in Sub-Saharan Africa: Botswana, Malawi, and South Africa.\u00a0<\/span>Fulbright-Fogarty Fellowships carry the same benefits as the traditional\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/us.fulbrightonline.org\/applicants\/types-of-awards\/study-research\">Fulbright Study\/Research<\/a>\u00a0grants to the host country. The Fogarty International Center, NIH, will provide support to the research training site and may provide orientation for the fellows at the NIH.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">By the start of the program year (July 2025), fellows must be an\u00a0<u>MD (and other professional degrees) studen<\/u><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">t<\/span>\u00a0who has completed their 3rd year\u00a0or a\u00a0<u>Ph.D. candidate who has completed their Master\u2019s level requirements<\/u>\u00a0(i.e., post-qualifying exam). The basic requirements and process for applying for the Fulbright-Fogarty Program are the same as for any <a href=\"https:\/\/us.fulbrightonline.org\/applicants\/types-of-awards\/study-research\">Fulbright U.S. Student Study\/Research Grant<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Meet\u00a0<a title=\"2023-2024 Fellows\" href=\"https:\/\/us.fulbrightonline.org\/uploads\/files\/Fogarty\/2023_Fogarty_Fellows.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2023-2024 Fellows<\/a><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000\">\u00a0and learn about <a title=\"past Fulbright-Fogarty Fellowship projects\" href=\"https:\/\/www.fic.nih.gov\/Programs\/Pages\/fulbright-fellowships.aspx#news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">past Fulbright-Fogarty Fellowship projects<\/a>. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\">Notes for new Fulbright-Fogarty Candidates:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"gmail-list-indent\">\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Review the\u00a0<a title=\"Country Summary\" href=\"https:\/\/us.fulbrightonline.org\/countries\">Country Summary<\/a> for details on country specific eligibility requirements and research placements. You will join an existing research project. Degree requirements, research focus, and affiliation vary by country.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Select one country to which to apply.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">In the\u00a0Preliminary Question: Award Type and Program Information: Award Name and General Category\u00a0questions of the online application, select Fulbright-Fogarty Fellowships in Public Health.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\">Submitting an affiliation letter is highly recommended.
