Week Three brings a dynamic lineup of sessions focused on enhancing student engagement through forward-thinking, student-centered teaching practices. This week\u2019s offerings highlight ways to connect with today\u2019s learners using real-world applications, media tools, and technology-driven strategies.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Session 1: Reaching Gen Z: Active Learning and Tech Tools for Today\u2019s Students<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Generation Z learners are digital natives with high expectations for interactivity. In this practical session, explore key Gen Z traits, discover active learning strategies that foster critical thinking, and try out simple tech tools that can enhance instruction in any teaching modality. You\u2019ll leave with ready-to-use ideas and a chance to reflect on adapting one of your own activities.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Session 2: Podcasting and Pedagogy<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Facilitator: Andy Wilczak
Learn how podcasting can be a powerful teaching and mentorship tool. Drawing from his experience leading\u00a0Colonels on Crime, a student-driven sociological podcast hosted by WCLH, Andy will share insights on integrating podcasting into course design, building student voice, and encouraging creative projects that extend beyond the classroom.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Session 3: Taking a Problem-Based Learning Approach to Teaching Quantitative Analysis<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Explore how a 12-week online Quantitative Analysis course uses a progressively complex case study to promote deeper learning. Students engage in critical thinking as they analyze statistical data and present findings not only by statistical significance but also by clinical and practical implications.
